Well,
you kept me waiting to the last game of the season, but, finally, you
proved to me, your mums and dads and most importantly yourselves, that
you could win games. WELL DONE ALL OF YOU.
The
league match set off at a hectic pace, dictated by the Trojans, and
never let-up. Edward did not have to do too much in goal but coped
well with what came his way. Good kicking, something he has really
worked on this season, turned defence into attack. Sophie was her
usual reliable self, rarely beaten in defence and with a fantastic
throw, which set us up time and again in attack. Catherine defended
well and pushed forward confidently with the ball creating opportunities
for her teammates. Eugene, making a return to the defence was back
to his old battling self and put in a couple of last line of defence
challenges. Luke played very strongly and confidently in midfield
along-side Scott, who, having been pushed up the park for this game
showed true grit in overcoming a second-half injury to score our winning
goal. George was very busy up front, putting pressure on the opposition
defence and helping to create scoring opportunities.
The
second match was played at much the same pace with Olly being called
upon time and again to show safe hands and be a real presence in the
goal. Stephanie was excellent at the centre of defence. Bex played
a real captains role tracking back to force attackers wide and frustrate
the opposition. Ashley had his best game of the season with a really
confident display. April worked hard from start to finish and never
gave up on the ball. Abi scared the opposition on a number of occasions
and scored a lovely goal after beating a couple of the Beckwithshaw
team along the way. Alexander showed flashes of inspiration and great
dribbling technique.
